The Eliot Community Human Services Youth Programming Division is seeking Therapeutic Mentors for a full time position. Bilingual preferred.  Ideal candidates should be self directed, motivated, creative and have experience mentoring youth.   
 

Responsibilities:

Offer youth structured, one-to-one, strength-based support services for the purpose of addressing daily living, social and communication needs.

Assist the youth in developing communication skills, enhancing conflict resolution skills and teaching of pro-social strategies through targeted activities.

Support, coach and train the youth in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution, and relating appropriately to other children and adolescents and adults in recreational and social activities pursuant to a behavioral health treatment plan.

Expose youth to social situations in which age appropriate skills can be acquired and practiced, through role playing and behavioral rehearsals.

Provide services to the youth in the home and the community. 

Engage the youth in activities that teach alternative strategies, develop communication skills, and enhance conflict resolution skills.

Meet with the youth’s family to share skill building activities, update on progress and engagein treatment goals.

Meet established productivity target.

Acquire training in areas that will enhance skill base including: Wraparound, Community

Resources and Services, Trauma Informed Care, behavior management support and interventions and safety planning.

 

Schedule: Varied/Flexible

Pay: rate: $20.00 Fee for Service 

Requirements

Degree in a human services field from an accredited university and at least one year experience working with children, adolescents or transition age youth; or high school diploma or GED and at least two (2) years experience working with the target population. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with both professional and paraprofessionals, families, and the service provider community. Ability to positively engage youth in social, recreational, educational and vocational activities. Ability to provide services in a professional manner ensuring privacy and safety while adhering to the Wraparound process’ principles and respecting the youth and family’s dignity and right to choice. Must be twenty-one years old. Computer literacy and skill in the use of computers and related software applications. Ability to consistently meet all necessary background and credentialing requirements. Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation to and from work and for providing services in the community. Must have reliable telephone notification system for emergency contact.
