Peer Specialist: Program for Assertive Community Treatment

Mental Health Services

 

The Eliot PACT team in Lowell is seeking a peer specialist to support consumers and work with an interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive services.

 

Responsibilities:

 

To ensure that consumers are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with ECHS’ Human Rights policy, ensure that the foundation of services encompass empowerment, choices and Recovery.  Must have a strong commitment to mental health recovery and knowledge of Recovery concepts.  

 

Ensure that a minimum of 75 percent of all consumer contacts occur in the consumer’s home, a community setting, consumer work place or some other non-institutional setting.


Provide side by side interventions to consumers that focus on problem solving, skills training, modeling behavior, optimism and encouragement. 


Maintain all records to ensure fidelity to the NAMI PACT manual, HIPPA regulations and agency policy.


Provide peer counseling and support drawing on their own experiences to validate consumers’ experiences.

 

 

Schedule:  M-F, 8:00-4:00

Pay rate: $17.52 per hour

Requirements

Qualifications: Must have at least two years of paid or volunteer experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness. May substitute one year of experience with a college degree in the human services field. Must be either receiving services or received services in the past from the mental health system and have self-knowledge to manage their mental illness and be well along in their recovery. Must have a strong commitment to mental health recovery. Must have skills to establish supportive relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for their preferences for treatment. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
