Title PHS - Processing Clerk

Description Receives, sorts and distributes various forms of work for Processing Areas. Reviews, assembles and prepares system output for mailing. Screens applications and documentation for completeness. Codes and/or processes new business and other non-complex changes on multiple processing systems, including balancing monies. Communicates with agency force and personnel in other departments to obtain further information or clarification in written/verbal form. Assist with data clean-ups and special projects.


• Ability to organize and prioritize large volumes of work meeting required timeframes daily
• Ability to analyze multiple pieces of information within specific parameters
• Accurately code and enter data to various processing systems
• Maintains record and reports


• Maintains suspense files for future follow up
• Responsible for pick-up and delivery of work
• Assists quality control area, as needed
• Backs-up switchboard operator, as needed
Requirements • High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Must have a minimum of one year insurance related experience or have successfully completed Insurance Essentials
• Must complete Intro to Insurance within one year of obtaining position. If higher level courses have been completed this requirement will be waived (i.e. AINS 21, 22, 23)
• Continued participation in educational courses
• Must pass a data entry test with a minimum of 6, 000 keystrokes and 90% accuracy
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Must possess moderate skills with personal computer, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Internet
• The employee must pay attention to detail in composing and proofing materials
• Must be self-motivated with initiative and ability to make decisions and accept responsibility
• Be flexible to respond to unexpected situations that require immediate attention
• A high level of confidentiality is to be maintained by the employee
