Title IT - Network Administrator II

Description Responsible for effective, provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Individual is accountable for the following systems: Windows Server/Desktop consisting of Active Directory, DHCP/DNS/Print configuration, Exchange, SharePoint, IIS, SQL, Departmental Software, Backup Solutions, Mobile connectivity, Imaging Systems, Reporting Systems, Data warehouse systems, Business Intelligence systems, geocoding/geolocation systems, software deployment/ management solutions, Storage configuration/connectivity, Cisco UCS, VM/Microsoft hypervisors and Security Software that support the GFB infrastructure. Responsibilities on these systems include system engineering and provisioning, operations and support, advanced troubleshooting, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation.

Assisting project teams with technical issues in the initiation, planning and deployment phases. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development to production by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle. • Position has responsibility for a component of IT security for their functional area



OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
• Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
• Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
• Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies.
• Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
• Work closely with other IT teams to facilitate the efficient and effective use of IT resources.

Requirements • Minimum of a 2 year Technical Associates Degree
• 6-8 years system administration experience.
• Working Knowledge of Windows and Linux systems
• Understanding of LAN/WAN Switching and Routing
• Knowledge of Virtualization and related technologies



PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Responsibilities require working evenings and weekends as needed, sometimes with little advanced notice.
• Installation of new hardware and wiring required for function of systems.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a frequent basis
• Ability to manage multiple projects and activities independently as well as work in a team environment
• Ability to follow sound business ethics when executing job responsibilities
• An understanding of the importance of procedures and the need to follow them is required
