Job Description Summary

The PCAOB has a full-time, regular position for a Senior Analyst in the Business Intelligence (BI) group within the Office of Economic & Risk Analysis (ERA).  ERA is responsible for conducting the PCAOB’s economic analysis, research, risk assessments and other data analysis in support of the entire range of PCAOB activities, including standard-setting, inspection, enforcement and other oversight activities.  The successful candidate will be self-motivated and results-oriented. The senior analyst will work closely with other members of the group, and with staff in other operating areas of the PCAOB to enable the key risk analysis needs of the business. This position requires strong hands on data analytics and technical skills.

The Senior Analyst will work at the PCAOB’s Washington, DC headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently and/or with other team members, ensuring the capture of business requirements, whether related to modeling and integrating data, or related to displaying and reporting data, such as via graphical dashboards, thresholds and alerts, trends, and data that can be grouped, sorted, filtered, and/or drilled up, down;
  • Collaborate with the Reporting Team in designing the outputs necessary to meet the business requirements;
  • Conduct analysis of public companies, industries and audit firms that affect audit risk;
  • Develop and maintain standard analytical processes and routines to proactively monitor, analyze and report on events and trends In companies, industries and audit firms that affect audit risk;
  • Actively participate in report development, data extraction, and data analysis as appropriate;
  • Development of periodic and/or ad-hoc reports, and lead data analysis;
  • Work effectively and coordinate with IT Team members, as well as with other business subject matter experts (SMEs).
Requirements

Qualifications

  • BA in computer science, information management or relevant technical/analytical field (CPA a plus);
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in data analysis and/or equivalent training/education;
  • Strong data analytic skills with working knowledge of SQL (e.g., MS SQL Server) is required;
  • Expertise in at least three of the following languages: Python, R, C# and Java;
  • Experience in natural language processing techniques, in particular textual data parsing and classifying;
  • Familiarity with Securities and Exchange Commission filing data/financial statements is preferred;
  • Excellent data management skills;
  • Excellent time management, organization and prioritization skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Must be detail-oriented and have a professional, positive and proactive attitude.
