Job Description Summary

The Assistant Director of Data Innovation & Analytics will serve as the delivery leader for industry standard analytical frameworks and approaches to be deployed across the organization.  This role will drive the PCAOB analytics community to deliver data insights, and create a plan towards cataloging strategic, organizational, and informal measures through various cross-cutting practice areas.  This critical role will also identify, diagnose, and solve analytical challenges to achieve data innovation through incubation projects as it relates to the PCAOB Strategic Plan. Together with its key partners (business functions, legal, and technology), the incumbent will begin the journey in a change management capacity with success defined by an iterative transition into a mature analytics community of practice that fosters improved analytical techniques, storytelling, and decision making.


  • Compose and lead a team of data analysts, operational research analysts, and statisticians to deliver valuable data and insights (direct and/or matrixed resources)
  • Oversee the design and delivery of effective data visualization to support business decision making and problem solving
  • Facilitate discussions with the PCAOB analytical community to surface and prioritize issues, requirements, and solutions
  • Define an analytics based performance management model spanning multi-functions with direct/ indirect linkage to influence strategic and operational planning, along with decision making to become a data driven culture
  • Incubate Proof-Of-Concept data solutions in an Agile methodology, and partner with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) on analytic workbench/platform capabilities
  • Create and maintain an analytical measures registry for the organization’s strategic, operation, and informal measures
  • Strong consultative skills managing multiple stakeholders and expectations across competing high priority deliverables
  • Translate strategies and requirements from the business into analytics opportunities based on a variety of statistical analysis techniques (e.g. , descriptive, linear/logistic regression, cluster analysis, significance testing, factor analysis)
  • Maintain a fluent understanding of advancements in technology and innovations including cognitive technology and artificial intelligence
  • Promote comprehensive education in data analytics – design creative training materials and ensure effective dissemination to drive program awareness and raise data analytics literacy across the organization
  • Provide line management and mentoring to junior resources for the data analytics team
  • Performs the full range of supervisory duties, including evaluating employee performance; makes recommendations for appointment and promotion; hears and resolves complaints; identifies development and training needs of employees; other related supervisory tasks; and
  • Recruits, maintains, and develops staff consistent with business needs.


  • Education/Technical Expertise
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or related business analysis/development field or equivalent; MBA/Master’s degree a plus.
    • 10+ years industry experience in data analytic functions. Ideally either experience in 1) establishing or transforming analytical teams for an organization and/or 2) data reporting for compliance and regulatory functions.
    • 7+ years functional experience in operational/statistical reporting and data quality/integrity.
    • Excellent understanding of data concepts and data lineage, measure definitions, data quality management, data quality reporting, issue management and issue remediation.
    • Experience in shaping and driving scoping and prioritization discussions where possible, specifically in analytical methodologies or evidence-based approaches to foster innovation.
    • Solid understanding of and/or experience in other data related capabilities including data architecture, data governance, data modelling, self-assessment, policy assurance, quality assurance and control testing.
    • A proven track record of building strong and effective relationships with senior stakeholders.
    • Experience working with colleagues spread across multiple offices with excellent skills in conflict resolution and decision making.
    • Understanding of data analytic technologies (i.e. Python, R, SAS, STATA, Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI, Natural Language Processing libraries).
    • Strong project and change management skills and experience desired.
    • A self-starter able to administer a number of open, ongoing assignments at any one time, where some assignments are routinely unstructured, requiring autonomy and independent judgment.
    • In-depth experience successfully harmonizing diverse and competing interests.
    • Ability to clearly articulate a position with sound logic, supporting empirical evidence, and impartiality.
    • Ability to effectively represent the organization to a variety of both internal and external constituencies.
    • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
