he Paint Technician refinishes repaired vehicles ensuring the completed process meets Original Equipment Mfg (OEM) specifications, and complies with Sterling’s established refinishing processes.

Technicians are expected to work as a team with responsibilities to include:

• Prepare damaged areas or components using the proper techniques and compounds to ensure a “refinish ready" product

• Complete refinish phase of repairs according to OEM and paint manufacturer specifications and within required timeframes
• Interact with the damage analysis team on vehicle or alternative part condition which could adversely impact the refinish product quality
• Complete refinish detail (stripping, chip-guard, etc.) according to OEM specifications and within required timeframes

Candidates must:

• Know how to properly sand and prep for paint, new parts and blend panels.
• Know how to properly sand and featheredge surface for primer.
• Be able to mix and spray the correct amount and coats of primer.
• Know how to properly block panels for refinishing.
• Be able to mask all panels and cover car to minimize tapelines, and minimize overspray on vehicle.
• Be able to unmask, sand and buff all refinished panels to match OEM texture. High school diploma or GED preferred
• Must have own tools
• Valid driver’s license
• Applicable auto body industry experience or Certificate from Vocational School in Collision
• I-Car and ASE Certifications in applicable refinishing courses, a plus
• Current certifications from paint company suppliers and paint application tool vendors, a plus
• Candidates be eligible to work in the US.
• Waterborne experience a great plus
