GENERAL SUMMARY: The Patient Care Specialist II is responsible for providing clinical support to providers and patients in Clinical Practice Group (CPG) office. These duties may include: patient care, vital signs, assisting provider, performing various laboratory tests, quality control indicators, and telephone triage.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions of the Job:
 Room patient and complete intake process per protocols.
 Administer medications and vaccines. Perform venipuncture and ambulatory procedures within scope of practice and job role.
 Laboratory duties including performing point of care testing (POCT), laboratory tests and quality control indicators, preparing forms and follow up results.
 Assist providers in procedures and performs various test independently.
 Use clinical equipment for testing as ordered.
 Evaluate lab work and advise provider of critical values.
 Manage EMR requirements to include: in basket, phone calls, prescriptions and results in a timely manner.
 Answer telephones, confirm appointments, maintain appointment schedule following office scheduling procedures.
 May obtain prior authorizations, waivers and consent for medications and procedures as needed.
 May triage patients and advise per protocol.
 Maintain appropriate inventory of medical supplies for the practice.
 Maintain medical instruments and ensure clinical areas are appropriately stocked and cleaned.
 May perform scribe duties for providers to include medical tests/labs/imaging. Responsible for ensuring thoroughness of medical documentation. Completes all documentation tasks through real time, on-site medical transcription.
 May schedule consultation and specialty appointments, laboratory and diagnostic tests.
 Document and charge capture for service rendered in Medical Record.
 Other duties that may be specific to satellite medical practice.
Non-Essential Functions of the Job:
 May provide administrative and/or front desk support as needed.

Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
Education:
 High School Diploma or GED
 Current Virginia LPN License or current Virginia CMA/RMA Certificate (certification only from AAMA, AMT, NHA or NAHP accepted)
 Presentation of nursing state license or certificate documentation is required upon employment and annually thereafter.
Experience:
 Two years previous experience working in a medical practice preferred
 Must have experience operating lab and medical equipment
 Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and Universal Precautions protocols
Knowledge and skills:
 Experience utilizing a personal computer and computerized scheduling
